The Crew

We are a couple from Kent who have long dreamed of setting sail and leaving our jobs (and children) behind us. Neither of us grew up with a sailing background, but over the years the love of the sea grew into a need to be on it. Starting off in dinghies we dabbled in the sailing world, but soon realised yachts were far less wet... most of the time. After a few trips with friends, several expeditions on the force yacht, and a day skippers we decided to take the plunge and purchase our first boat. Tumbet was a 26ft Westerly Centaur, perfect for bumbling around the Medway. The old girl saw us and the children to London several times, up the east coast, and dodged the ferries all the way to the french coast. However finally she was retired after a faithful service, to make way for Hermione and the prospect of living on board. My wife Caroline has taken a career break for 7 months from social work, and I have finally retired from the police. This coupled with the fact both the children have left for university has meant we can finally set off.
